The positive side of Greece. «Crisis is a Greek word» is the title of the Greek Designers global initiative to describe Greece in the times of Crisis. The ongoing depression that affects more countries everyday has inspired 48 top Greek Visual Communication Designers, with more than 1,240 international and national distinctions, to participate for the first time at a common exhibition, its sole aim being to convey a message of creativity to the World.
Creativity, as a tool in the artists’ hands, works our way out of the Crisis, the Crisis that has invaded our way of life and feelings, the Crisis we study and face every single day. Greek Designers seek a balance between art and usability, trying to visualize messages and ideas or create objects we can use in our everyday life.
This time their call is to put their creative abilities, imagination and technique to use, trying to visualize the reality they experience in their everyday life, using their art to tell the tale of an experience globally described with the Greek word “Crisis”.
Fully respecting the very important heritage they carry from the past, the Greeks try to establish a new cultural identity that will help them overcome the problems caused by depression. Designers hold an essential role in the country’s creative and cultural development, so they choose to lead the way towards the achievement of this new identity.
